Podcast: La creación del asiento de la farmacia real en Manila. Una mirada al comercio de medicinas a través del Galeón de Manila (1717–1723)
This podcast introduces the establishment of the so-called “Royal Medicine contract” in Manila in 1717. This was a new agreement to manage the supply and provision of medicines in the Philippines, most of which were shipped across the Pacific from New Spain. We encounter here a neglected micro-historical aspect of the Manila Galleon trade, one that triggered interesting consequences on both Asia and America (New Spain).
